In this post I will include my magazine cover at various stages, however I won't upload my completed version until later in the blog. This is in order to see the progression of my cover.

A Bunch of magazine potential photos.

In this post I will include images of my made up director that will be featuring heavily on my magazine front cover.

Medium Shot of Julian Faust my director of my film. I tried different shots to see which one I would prefer for my magazine front cover.

Medium Long Shot of Julian Faust - My Director for my independent magazine. Looking at a lot of magazine's mainstream and independent I found that it doesn't matter what they are shot in, it just depends on the layout you are going for. I decided to take many shots that were different so I had a variety to work with.

Medium Close Up. The Medium Close Up is the picture that I went for, I thought it worked best, I liked the outcome.


Medium Long shot.

Medium Shot of Julian shot in a slightly different angle, him looking quite relaxed, appropriate for the style I want to go for.

Medium Close up again. I really liked the Medium Close up images, it further positions the audience with the director, and the way he is dressed and his facial expresions further show how relaxed he is. I think the audience will relate well with a Medium close up image of my director.

Trailer Music.

In this post I have included all the possible and appropriate music/sound effects for my teaser trailer.

When working on the editing of my trailer, I came up with a list of possible music and music that was appropriate.

I needed music in the beginning of my trailer that was going to fool the audiences on the genre it is suppose to be.
I came up with a two possibilites..

I chose 'Caring Getting through' as my chosen music for the beginning of my trailer. I thought it worked quite well into fooling the audience on the genre, thinking everything is cosy and happy when things aren't quite as nice as they 'first' seem.

I then thought of possible stings for bits of my trailer when things go wrong. I came up with a number of possibilites.

The next two stings are the same but one is with echo and one is without echo.

I also found some music that I thought could work however I decided it was too mysterious and wasn't the right thing for my trailer.

The next bit of music is a piece that I was potentially thinking of using... It is a recorded piece from a keyboard, I initially thought it would sound appropriate for my trailer than when I was editing it together I decided against using it.

Potential Poster Designs.

In order for me to design my poster, I first just played around with photoshop and used any image of a house to see an overall image in my head of how I would like my poster to be.

When designing my other posters with
images I was potentially going to use, some
conventions are left out as I was just playing
around with photoshop to see the potential
outcomes.

Poster Pictures

These are potential pictures for my poster.

I feel that a picture of these house shots,
taken in this angle really has the
potential to scare the audience. Having looked
at a number of posters within the horror
genre I felt that an image of the house
would work with my poster and it
will give the overall message
that I want to send out.

These pictures of the girl with her hand on the window came
from the idea of a little girl isolated and scared, seen in a lot
of horror posters. The big hand represents her trying to get out.
She also looks vulnerable and scared.

Potential cover lines for my magazine.

In this post I have created a few cover lines appropriate for my magazine front cover.

FIVE potential names for my independent magazine.

In this post I have created 5 potential names for my independent magazine, and written a brief analysis for each name and how appropriate it is for an independent magazine.
1) Indie- This name suggests it is an independent magazine. It is short and to the point. Indie is short for Independent. I think it is quite catchy.
2) Direct Cut - This name suggests it is an independent magazine. I feel that 'Direct Cut' suggests it is a magazine for directors or producers rather than what you'd expect from a mainstream magazine audience.
3) Double Take - This name suggests again appropriate for an independent magazine. 'Double Take' straight away suggests that the magazine would be more appropriate for an audience of directors or people in the film industry.
4) Niche - This name again, is appropriate for an independent magazine. Niche means small, and the audience for independent magazine's are rather small compared to what you'd expect for a mainstream magazine like 'Total Film'.
5) Screenplay - Again i feel that this name is appropriate for an independent magazine. 'Screenplay' is a name you'd expect to find in an indie magazine rather than mainstream. It suggests that it is more low key and simple rather than bold and eye catchy.

In this post I have looked at three conventional magazine covers for independent type films and analysed them and found similarities which I will consider when creating my magazine front cover.
