Looking at other psycholigical horror movies, I have to decide on what company is appropriate to produce and distribute my film. I came up with three appropriate companies.
Production: Miramax in association with Dimension films
Miramax films is an American entertainment company known for distributing independent and foreign films. For its first 14 years the company was privately owned by its founders, Bob and Harvey Weinstein. In 1993, the company was acquired by The Walt Disney Company. Previous films include The Others, Don't be afraid of the Dark, Scary Movie 4, Hostage, Darkness and City of God. Miramax don't just produce films that are psychological horrors but they produce independent type films.
Production: Dimension Films
Dimension films is a motion picture unit currently a part of The Weinstein Company. It was formely used as Bob Weinstein's label within Miramax Films, to produce and release genre films. The Weinstein Brothers took this label with them when they departed the Disney-owned Miramax in October 2005.The studio's movie franchises include the later Halloween films, Children of the Corn, Scream, Spy Kids and Scary Movie. All films released by Dimension Films prior to October 1, 2005, remain the property of Miramax Films.
Distribution: MGM
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc (MGM) is an American media company, involved primarily in production and distrubution of films and television programs. MGM was founded in 1924 when the entertainment entrepreneur Marcus Leow gained control of Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures Corporation and Louis B. Mayer Pictures. Films include Poltergeist, Jeepers Creepers, Amity Ville Horror, Lucky Number Slevin and Premonition.
